Advent 2023: How Does a Weary World Rejoice?

With all the uncertainty and weariness in the world, we’re looking for reasons to rejoice. Does joy come from the season’s festivities spent with family and friends? From the giving and receiving of gifts? Or would we seek joy in the rich gift of Jesus, the Christ, with us in all the parts of our lives? In this Advent season leading to Christmas, we wait for the Christ Child with hopeful expectation, weariness, trust, disbelief, and joy. Each week we’ll search the scriptures which acknowledge both the joy and weariness in our lives. Each week, we’ll find ways, amid life’s difficult circumstances, to rejoice together in God’s promises. In this weary world, may we find many ways to rejoice.
