Advent 2024: Let There Be Light
Advent arrives during the darkest time of the year, when daylight dwindles and night stretches longer. In this season, we naturally crave light— from holiday decorations and firesides, from cheery songs and gift-giving. Our longing for light reflects a deeper human need – for hope in dark times. It’s a need people have felt throughout history and one we still feel today. Advent acknowledges the reality of darkness in our world and our lives, but it also prepares us to embrace the hope that light brings – a light coming in the person of Jesus Christ, the light of the world. As we light candles during these darkest days, we remember the promise of his light breaking through, and we look forward with hope to a day when darkness will be no more. This Advent, let’s declare together "Let there be light!”
